John F. Torbeck
June 22, 1940 - June 1, 2021

John F. Torbeck, age 80, of 303 Dudley St., Liberty, died Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at 4:45 pm in Blessing Hospital.

John was born June 22, 1940 in Norfolk, Virginia, the son of Fred and Frances McKinley Torbeck. He was a 1959 graduate of Quincy Senior High School. He joined the Marine Corps in 1959 and served during the Vietnam conflict.

Upon returning to Quincy he was employed at Gardner-Denver for 30 years as a machinist and tool and die maker. He was a member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church. He loved mudding in his 4 wheeler and just driving around the countryside. He always wanted to be a farm boy and would often help area farmers. He loved to look for deer and loved to shoot, but would never kill an animal. He also had served as a Boy Scout leader.

Survivors include his sister, Marilyn Huechteman of Plano, TX and several nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bruce and Richard.

A private visitation was held at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home

"I'm so sorry for your loss I just heard of John's passing. When I worked at Ayerco we had many good conversations.He gave me a milk glass toothpick holder years ago.vi helped him when he would come to Farm n Home,we joked with each other.i will truly miss his friendship.He rinded me of my Dad."
