John G. Bolwerk, 87, of Marquette, formerly Gwinn, died Friday morning, May 28, 2021, at the DJ Jacobetti Home for Veterans.
He was born October 6, 1933 in Combined Locks, Wisconsin, a son of George H. and Marie (VanCuyk) Bolwerk.
John served 23 years in the US Air Force working in electronics and was a Korean War and Vietnam War veteran.
On February 13, 1957 he married Florence Moreau while stationed at Eglin AFB in Florida and she preceded him in death in 2013.
John also worked as an electrician at CCI for 21 years and retired in 1995.
He was a member of the American Legion Little Lake Post, Gwinn VFW, St. Anthony Catholic Church and was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. His interests included gardening, building model trains & airplanes, puzzling, reading and cooking. He loved playing cribbage and was an avid bowler and traveled to participate in various national tournaments.
John is survived by his wife, Beverlyann (Moe) Bolwerk, whom he married on July 25, 2015 of Marquette; children, Douglas Bolwerk of Gwinn, MI, Daniel (Jackie) Bolwerk of Negaunee, MI, Adriana (Patrick) Sertich of Sheboygan, WI, Dolly (Patrick) Clisch of Three Lakes, MI and Donna (Timmy) Boldt of Manitowoc, WI; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; step-children, Eric (Katie) Moe of Marquette, MI and Darrin (Jennifer) Moe of Hayward, WI and numerous step-grandchildren and step great grandchildren; siblings, Adriana Evers of Kaukauna, WI, Henry (Mary) Bolwerk of Combined Locks, WI, George (Barb) Bolwerk of West Bend, WI and sister in law, Sally Bolwerk of Combined Locks, WI and many nieces & nephews. Besides his parents and 1st wife, he was preceded in death by his siblings, William and Robert Bolwerk and Gertrude Gloudeman and brother-in-law Henry Evers and sister-in-law Helen Bolwerk and grandchild, Danielle Bolwerk.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2021 from 10 am to 12 pm at St. Anthony Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12 noon with Rev. Allen Mott officiating. Interment will take place in the Gwinn Cemetery.
