Esther "Essie" Hendricks, age 86, of Quincy, died Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at 12:24 pm in Bradford Villa.
Esther was born April 1, 1935 in Clayton Township, Illinois, the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth Syrcle Totsch. She married Harry Hendricks on May 22, 1992 in Hannibal, Missouri. He preceded her in death on August 28, 2016.
Survivors include three children, George William "Bill" (Gloria) Hammond of Dallas, TX, Carmeletta Riley of Quincy, and Debra Buss of Aurora, CO; a step-daughter, Cheri (Darren) Hays; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special friend and companion, Ben Miller.
In addition to her husband, Essie was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Seldon, Harold and Marvin Totsch, and two sisters, Marjorie Johnson and Ruth Graham.
Services: 10:00 am on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at Central Baptist Church, with Pastor Jason Sommerfeldt officiating.
Burial: Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois
Visitation: 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Monday, June 7, 2021 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
