Henry Woodwick Jr was born on September 8, 1927, in Rake, Iowa, to Josephine (Chilson) and Henry Woodwick Sr. Henry attended country school near the family farm west of Rake until the eighth grade with his four brothers, LaWayne, James, Leonard and Willis.

On February 12, 1950, Henry married Bonna Legried of Rake. The couple had four children: Douglas, Diane, Donald and Daniel.

During his working years, Henry was farm laborer and as an auto and truck mechanic. He began at Ross Moore farm; he operated two filling stations, Woody's D-X on south Main Street and Hank's 66 on north Main Street in Rake; worked at B.R. Auto Salvage in Beauford, MN; at Twito Chevrolet of Lake Mills; and at the Winnebago County mechanics shop in Thompson. He served for many years on the Rake town council and served as deacon and financial secretary with Bonna at Zion Lutheran Church.

In his non-working hours, Henry loved to fix cars on the driveway and in the garage of the family home in Rake. It was common for many to drop by for a conversation, either to discuss Henry's latest repair or to discuss a possible repair of their own.

Henry died on Wednesday, May 26, at the memory care unit at Ingleside Assisted Living in Fairmont. Throughout his life, Henry was friendly, happy and a joy to be around.

Henry is survived by three sons: Douglas (Joanne) of Blue Earth, MN; Donald (Brenda) of Thompson, IA; and Daniel (Kim) of River Falls, WI; six grandchildren: Teri Lyn (Travis) Petersen of Welcome, MN; Timothy Woodwick of Rake, IA; Travis (Kristin) Woodwick of Blue Earth, MN; Kelli (Andy) Lavrenz of Buffalo Center, IA; Elise (Rob) Capuano of Celebration, FL; and Maya Woodwick of Moorhead, MN; seven great-grandchildren: Chase, Dylan, Mackenzie and Brooklyn Petersen of Welcome, MN; and Aubrey, Laila and Hazel Woodwick of Blue Earth, MN.
