Eileen Tjernagel
May 27, 1939 - October 3, 2020

Eileen Tjernagel, 80, of Johnston, IA., passed away at the Kavanaugh Hospice House in Des Moines, IA on October 3rd, 2020.

Services will be held Saturday May 29th, at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home 307 S. 12th Street, Fort Dodge, IA 50501. A visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service and then a burial service at Corpus Christi Cemetery.

Eileen was the daughter of Calvin and Regina Bode. She was born on May 27th, 1939 where she lived on a farm in Algona, Iowa. She graduated from Saint Cecelia Catholic School and after graduation attended a secretarial school in Minneapolis. She accepted her first job at Hormel in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Eileen married Thomas Richard Brennan in 1960 and they had five children together. Eileen enjoyed gardening, fishing, playing her puzzles on the iPad, nature, and shopping on QVC. She moved to Willmar, MN with her second husband, Richard Tjernagel, where she lived for twenty years. Eileen moved to Johnston, IA in 2018 to be closer to family.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Regina Bode; her father, Calvin Bode; her former husband, T. Richard Brennan; her second husband, Richard Tjernagel; her sister, Linda Bode; and her four brothers, Marvin Bode, Jerry Bode, Roger Bode, and Joel Bode.

Eileen is survived by her children, Tina Jensen (Phil), Pam Brennan, Lisa Brennan, Daniel Brennan (Manuel), and Mike Brennan (Joanne); her grandchildren, Austin, Andrew, Matthew, Adam, Elizabeth, and Jacob; her great grandson, Jackson; her sisters, Norma Miller and Emily Hively; her sister-in-laws, Patricia Kinseth and Helen Tjernagel and several nieces and nephews.
