"Hondo" Gruver, retired Jackson County Sheriff's Department K-9 Officer, passed away on Monday, May 17, 2021 at the age of 11.
"Hondo" was born on September 14, 2009, a Dutch Shepherd Brindle color. His siblings are Oreo and Ctanley.
During "Hondo's" career he assisted local law enforcement agencies and offered his services to surrounding counties. He was utilized in search warrants and drug searches. He alerted on drugs and drug paraphernalia which led to numerous arrests. He also assisted the Clinton County Police Department with armed burglary suspects who had barricaded themselves inside a business. Suspects came out peacefully thanks to "Hondo". He was a great asset to the community but more important to Jackson County Deputy Chad Gruver, "Hondo" was his trusted partner for many many years and always had his back on those long nights working 3rd shift, he loved nothing more than going to "work".
He was a "good boy" and will be dearly missed by his loving family; and extended family and friends.
