Robert (Bob) Douglas Hand went to meet Jesus on Friday, May 14, 2021 at his Fowlerton, IN home.
Bob was born on October 25, 1932 in Spokane Washington to the late Ruth M. (Schuerer) Hand and Thurston Hand. He attended West Valley High School in Spokane Washington and graduated in 1950. After high school, Bob joined the Army and served during the Korean Conflict Era. He completed his military career at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indianapolis, IN, where he met and married Jane A. (Seward) Hand on March 3, 1956. After his military career, Bob furthered his education at Indiana Business College, graduating in 1971 with an Accounting Degree. After graduation, Bob went to work as an Accountant for Jackson Engineering, Indianapolis, IN, and in the mid-1980, with his wife Jane, moved to Marietta, GA and worked as an Accountant at Dobbins Air Force Base, eventually moving to Lantana/West Palm Beach Florida where he retired as Controller for The State of Florida / Port of Palm Beach.
Bob enjoyed many things. He loved to attend church, spend time with family, and travel with his wife Jane. You would often find Bob & Jane helping others in need. He loved to worship with others, visitation with fellow church members, working in the church pantry, and provide meals for the poor and homeless.
When in Florida Bob & Jane attended the First Baptist Church, Lantana, Florida, and while living in Fowlerton,IN, they attended Eastview Wesleyan Church, Gas City, Indiana.
Bob is survived by his wife Jane, four children. Steven (Laura) Hand, Lantana, FL, Joseph (Tanya) Hand, Fishers, IN Joani (David) Hand Browning, Fowlerton, IN, and Timothy (Joann) Hand, Lantana, FL. Also, his 7 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and two siblings Donald Hand and Jacque (Bill) Hand-Lee of Spokane, Washington.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Deloris (Hand) Handson and Connie (Hand) Pyle.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 South Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana where visitation will be Saturday May 22, 2021 from 1:00 - 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Bob's funeral will immediately follow at 2:00 PM with Pastor Noah Farmer officiating. Burial at Park Cemetery, Fairmount, IN with military honors.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Eastview Wesleyan Church in care of the funeral home.
