Roger Blatecky
April 19, 1944 - May 5, 2021

Roger Blatecky, age 77 of Quincy, IL passed away on May 5, 2021 at 5:40 p.m. at Great River Hospice in West Burlington, IA.

Roger was born on April 19, 1944, in Chicago to Albert and Jeanette Reilly Blatecky. He grew up on a dairy farm in Mattoon, Wisconsin. Roger graduated from Mattoon High School 1962.

Roger married the love of his life, Kay Wincentsen, on December 19, 1964 in Hogarty, WI. She survives.

Roger proudly served in the United States Air Force as an Inventory Management Specialist from 1962 until his honorable discharge in 1968.

Roger loved being with his family, and he will be dearly missed by them. He enjoyed going to local wineries and listening to local music and dancing with his favorite dance partner, his wife of 56 years. His favorite Sundays, you would find him rooting for the Packers whether they were winning or losing.

Roger had many jobs through the years, but the last 15 years he has been employed at Home Depot in Quincy, IL.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two children: Mathew (Tami) Blatecky and Missy (Taylor) Toomer; four grandchildren: Jacob (Jaymie) Jackson, Loretta (Bryan) Young, Justi (Louren Collins) Blatecky, and Bethany (Ryne) Sage; five great grandchildren : Zachary Young, Derek Jackon, Tinslee Mitchell, Addison Young, and Carter Young; his brother, Albert Blatecky; three half-brothers: Jack, Jerry, and Joel Kanig; and his half-sister, Joy Morgan.

He is preceded in death by his parents Albert Blatecky and Jeanette Kanig; his sister ,Sherry Kohel; his brother-in-law, Charles Kohel; and his, half-brother John Kanig; as well as a beloved uncle and aunt, Rudy and Phyllis Blatecky.

Services: 11:00 am Monday, May 17, 2021 at Quincy Memorial Park Mausoleum, with Rev. Steve Disseler officiating.

Burial: Quincy Memorial Park, Quincy, Illinois Military Honors by American Legion Post 37 and the United states Air Force Funeral Honors Detail.

Visitation: 10:00 am - 11:00 am, Monday May 17, 2021 at Quincy Memorial Park
