Valda Lamp, age 77, of Manning, passed away on Friday, April 30, 2021, at her home in Manning. Funeral service will be at 2 PM on Tuesday, May 4, 2021, at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning with Interment in Manning Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 PM to 7 PM on Monday, May 3, 2021, at Ohde Funeral Home in Manning.

Valda Ann, daughter of Henry John and Norma Ida (Anthony) Lamaack, was born July 7, 1943, in Manning, Iowa. She grew up northwest of Aspinwall. Valda attended country school near her home and graduated from Manning High School in 1961. During high school, she was FFA Sweetheart and was on homecoming royalty.
On September 14, 1963, Valda was united in marriage with Gordell Lamp, her high school sweetheart, at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. Four children: Julie, Jill and twins Scott and Steven were born to this union. In 1969, they moved to and farmed northwest of Aspinwall until Gordy passed away in 2005. Throughout this time, Valda worked for a local dentist and Wells Manufacturing, while being an excellent homemaker. In November of 2005, Valda moved into Manning.
Valda was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. She enjoyed crocheting afghans, playing cards, and playing the piano and organ. Her family and friends enjoyed her rye bread, dill pickles and brownies. Above all, Valda enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and special foster grandchild Kelden Freese.
Valda died unexpectedly on Friday, April 30, 2021 at her home in Manning. She was 77 years, 9 months and 23 days of age.
Besides her husband, Valda was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Norma Lamaack; a brother Allan Lamaack; a sister Marla Nissen Kienast; three brothers-in-law: Allen Nissen, Leland Kienast and Rudy Roe; and Gordell's parents Wilbur and Phyllis Lamp.
Valda is survived by her four children: Julie Lamp of Manning; Jill (Jon) Saunders of Manilla; Scott (Jolene) Lamp of Newton and Steven (Jennifer) Lamp of Newburgh, Indiana; Five grandchildren: Brian Lamp, Paige (Kolby) Struchen, Tyler Saunders and special friend Sydney, Quincy (Emily) Lamp, Connor Lamp and fiancée Calah, and Preston Lamp; two great-grandchildren Reagan and Raleigh Lamp; a brother-in-law Mahlon (Jane) Lamp of Atlantic; sister-in-law Jean Roe of Des Moines; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
