Kenneth Laaker
October 8, 1930 - April 24, 2021

Kenneth R. Laaker, age 90, of Quincy, died on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at 11:43 a.m. in Blessing Hospital.

He was born October 9, 1930 in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Raymond C. and Hildagard Huelsmeyer Laaker. On October 11, 1958, he married Anita Jane Disseler in Quincy, Illinois. She survives.

Mr. Laaker was a 1948 graduate of Quincy High School and a graduate of Gem City Business College. He was honorably discharged after serving four years in the United States Air Force. Mr. Laaker had been employed by the U.S. Post Office from 1957 until his retirement in 1992 as Supervisor of Administration.

Mr. Laaker was a past member of Trinity Church where he was an Elder, a Trustee, and a member of the Fireside Club. He had also served as a Scoutmaster and as a Cubmaster. Mr. Laaker was a member of NARFE where he volunteered as a State Personnel Officer. He was also a member of the Uncle Sams and a volunteer at Blessing Hospital. Mr. Laaker was currently a member of Vermont Street United Methodist Church.

Mr. Laaker's family would like to thank the nurses and the staff of the Illinois Veterans' Home for their compassionate care.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two children: Brad (Angela) Laaker of Godfrey, IL; and Nancy (Allan) Kennedy of Anaheim, CA; four grandchildren: Dillan (Annalise) and Wesley Laaker of Godfrey, IL; and A.J. and Samantha Kennedy, Anaheim, CA; and a step-sister, Carol Gronau of St. Louis, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, James Laaker.

Services: 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with Rev. Patty Johansen officiating. Please wear a mask if you plan on attending the service.

Visitation: 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. Please wear a mask if you plan on attending the visitation.

Burial: Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois.
