In loving memory of

Grace Pugh
March 11, 1937 - April 6, 2021

On April 6th, 2021, Grace Pugh passed away, beginning a new and eternal life in Glory. Grace was born on March 11th, 1937. She was the fourth child of Salvador and Sarah Lopez. She was born and grew up in East Los Angeles. In 1961, she would move to West Covina where she would spend the rest of her life.
Grace was married in November 1954 to Philip Leon Pugh. They had four children together. Paul (deceased), Ken, Bud, and Kathleen. They would be married until Philip's death in August 1975. Grace worked tirelessly as a single parent to care for her family. She would work for Queen of the Valley Hospital for 35 years as a Unit Secretary. The last 15 years she spent on the Cardiac Ward.
Grace had seven grandchildren; Lisa, Olivia, Joshua (deceased), Travis, Matthew, Timothy, and Sarah. She was also blessed with 12 great-grandchildren; Ethan, Karlie, Bella, Sierra, Phoenix, Aurora, Mathias, Sofia, Charlie, Lilly, Lucius, and Samson. Grace is survived by 3 siblings. Sister Betty Campa and husband Johnny, sister Laurie Rios, and brother Samuel Lopez and wife Aurora. Plus numerous nieces and nephews.
Grace's first battle with breast cancer was 40 years ago. She began her passion that would last the rest of her life. Feeling that God had gave her her life back, she gave her life back as a volunteer for the American Cancer Society. This began with Reach to Recovery visits to help other women in their battle with cancer. Soon she began speaking to groups in English and Spanish and going to the State Capitol and to Washington D.C. to lobby bills, all in the hope and support of funding a cure for cancer. Although it was never her goal, she received many awards and honors.
Grace was a lifetime believer, relying on her faith to provide her the strength to battle cancer and life's hardships. She was a true example of a warrior, God's warrior. She never shied away from this final battle with cancer. If you want to live, you have to fight. That you had to have Hope. You are and will always be a great blessing to us. With all of our love.
