Joan Mae Schwager, 92 of St. Charles, died Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at Whitewater Health Services.
Joan was born March 1, 1929 in Beldenville, WI to Fredrick and Aletha (Northey) Tuebert. She graduated from River Falls High School. On March 27, 1948, she married Lewis Schwager. They made their home on his family farm near Altura for a short time before moving to St. Charles to raise their family. Joan was a faithful and active member of Our Saviors Moravian Church and taught Sunday school while her children were growing up.
Joan enjoyed sewing, embroidery and baking. Her family and her grandchildren were her true pride and joy.
She is survived by four children, Cynthia Schwager, Becky Schwager, Patricia (Bill) Reisdorf and Susan Schwager; six grandchildren, Erin, Britt, Crystal, Kyle, Nick and Sarah; great-grandchildren, Nora, Henry, Joanna, Charlie, Klarissa, Tyler, Aiden, Rinley, Everett Teegan & Lyra; and one sister, Lila Jean Spencer.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis in 1979; son, Lester, daughter, Judith; grandson, Dylan, brother, Fritz; two sisters, Nancy and Mary Ellen and a son-in-law, Gary Bauer.
Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Monday, April 26, 2021 at Our Saviors Moravian Church with the Reverend Greg Behrend officiating. Visitation will be 10 a.m., until the time of the service. She will be laid to rest at Bethany Moravian Cemetery. The service will be live streamed, the link is at the top of this page. "Sorry to hear of your loss. My memories of Granny Schwager were her awesome Beef Stew that she would make and send with Kyle so we would have something hot to eat at the boathouse and some really good desert. She was so full of life and really enjoyed it. I could never get her to cheer for the right football team though. She was the best. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Marshall Graham "
