In loving memory of

Sonja Fay Krueger
November 22, 1942 - April 14, 2021

Sonja Fay Krueger was born on November 22, 1942, to Lloyd and Maybel (Card) Tyler in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. She also graduated high school in Eau Claire. She moved to Omaha and worked at Tip Top manufacturing company. She then worked at The Koffee House in Omaha; that's where she met the love of her life, DeWayne. Sonja married Dewayne Krueger on May 2, 1964, at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa. The couple lived in Omaha and later moved to Janesville, Wisconsin for work. Along the way, they moved to Kenwood, Iowa, to help DeWayne's parents. She worked at Jo Mart's Steakhouse in Denison for 16 years. The couple then purchased Sonja's Function Junction in Dow City. She also worked at JC's Prime Rib and they later purchased the restaurant and renamed it to DewSonies. After selling DewSonies, they purchased the Raceway, also in Dow City.

Sonja enjoyed fishing, drinking, cussing and camping with her friends, attending car shows, roller skating and dancing. She spent a lot of time traveling with the boys to attend DeWayne's stock car races. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeye's football fan. She cherished her friends and above all loved her children and grandchildren.

Sonja died on April 14, 2021, at Jennie Edmundson Methodist Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa at the age of 78 years, four months and 23 days.

Sonja was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Elaine Fox, Juanita Belen; brothers, Fred, Chuck, Harvey and Dick Tyler. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, DeWayne Krueger of Dow City; children, Jacqueline Keen William of Evans, Georgia, Robby Krueger and Richard Krueger both of Denison; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Janet Dopkins of River Falls, Wisconsin, Nina Kent of Eau Claire, Wisconsin and Joyce Hatfield of Jacksonville, Florida; and many other relatives and friends. The family would like to extend a special and heart-felt thank you to Katie Malone for her kindness during this time.
