Rosemary M. Matney
August 10, 1938 - April 6, 2021

Rosemary M. (Harrison) Matney, 82 of Fairmount died Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at Colonial Oaks Health Healthcare.

Rosemary was born in Lapel, Indiana on August 10, 1938, daughter of the late Perry E. and Lola M. (Day) Harrison. She graduated from Pendleton High School in 1957 and attended Felt & Tarrant Comptometer School in Indianapolis. She married James L. Matney on May 29, 1958. He preceded her in death on March 24, 2021. Rosemary was a homemaker and and worked for Coverall as a Pant Presser for several years. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, Social Greeter, and RCIA Instructor. She was an instructor of American Round Dancing, and member of sorority in Summitville. Rosemary and Jim enjoyed camping for many years.

She is survived by her son, Dorin (Sue) Matney, Alexandria; Nancy (Brian) Kirkwood, Alexandria; daughter-in-law, Timi (George) Helms, Hartford City; sisters-in-law; Mary Ice, Muncie, and Diane Smith, Summitville; brothers-in-law, Lawrence (Deloris) Matney, Albany, and Bart (Laura) Matney, Summitville; grandchildren, Jessica (Shawn) Gilliam, Sam Shelton, Annie (Kevin) Cool, Zachariah Matney, Spencer (James) Shelton, Lyndee (Kurt) Russell, Abbie (Eddie) Martinez, Andrew Matney, Mahala (Josh) Charnley, and Noah Matney; and great-grandchildren, Bella Rose Russell, Maelyn Russell, Laken Cool, and Lettie Martinez.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Mark Matney; sister, Thelma Jean Armstrong; and brothers, Donald Lee Harrison, LeRoy Harrison, and Earl Harrison.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 South Main Street, Fairmount, where a visitation will be held on Monday, April 12, 2021 from 11 AM- 1 PM at the funeral home. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 1 PM with Father Hurley officiating. Burial will take place at Park Cemetery in Fairmount.

Contributions made in memory of Rosemary may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church or Cancer Services of Grant County in care of the funeral home.
