In loving memory of

Charles "Leonard" Kimes
November 7, 1933 - April 1, 2021

Charles Leonard Kimes, age 87, went to be with his Lord on April 1, 2021. Leonard married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Joyce DeLee Stitt on May 17, 1952. They were blessed with 4 daughters: Kathy (Steven) Smith, Bonnie (Tim) Small, Lori (Michael) LaShure and Lynell (Dale) Coverdale. Leonard was a loving Grandpa to 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Leonard was a farmer his whole life. Even after he retired from farming, the love of the land never left him. Riding in the combine during harvest with his neighbor Mark Hasty brought him great enjoyment.
Leonard also worked at Delco Remy, Anderson until he retired in 1996. He always had a good story to share about his days at "Remy".
He hardly ever missed his Friday morning "breakfast with the guys" each week at the Outpost Restaurant. Many interesting stories were shared around that table.
Leonard was a very active member of the Liberty Friends Meeting. For 41 years he served as treasurer of Little Ridge Friends Meeting/Liberty Friends Meeting. He loved the Lord with all of his heart and was never shy about telling someone that he missed seeing them at church on Sunday. They usually showed up the next Sunday.
His family will miss his endearing smile, his quick wit, his words of wisdom, his sense of humor, his good advice, his knowledge in practically everything, his hugs, his laugh, his strength, the sound of his voice and his never-failing love.
Leonard went to be with his parents, Leo and Neva Kimes, sisters, Ruth Florea and Imo Howell, brother, Donald Kimes, son-in-law, Steven Smith and great grandson, Landon Dunham.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana. Visitation will be on Monday, April 5, 2021 from 10-2 PM at Liberty Friends Church. Funeral Service will be at 2 PM with Pastor Clay Davis officiating at Liberty Friends Church, 1008 W 800 S., Fairmount, Indiana. Burial will be at Park Cemetery, Fairmount.
Memorials may be made to Liberty Friends Meeting in memory of Leonard Kimes in care of the funeral home.
