In loving memory of

Jean Goslar
December 12, 1929 - April 1, 2021

Lois Jean Marie Goslar, always known to others as Jean, was the daughter of Edward D. Goslar Sr. and Lena (Rosburg) Goslar. Jean was born December 12, 1929, on a family farm north of Berne, Iowa. That day was also her parent's 12th Wedding Anniversary, something Jean always mentioned whenever she was asked when she was born.

Jean passed away Thursday, April 1, 2021, at Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa, at the age of 91. She was baptized in Christ on January 12, 1930, at St. John Lutheran Church in Charter Oak and also confirmed there on April 18, 1943.

After completing her education, she continued working on the family farms for her parents, her siblings and other family members and neighbors. She also worked at the Berne store years ago for Erhard and Minna Gosch. She had a bean walking crew in the summer that family members still recall doing. Jean was a hardworking, simple woman with tough, but loving hands.

She enjoyed her nieces and nephews and was always there for everyone. As the years went on and time went by, she found great enjoyment spending time with great nieces and nephews. One of those times was a trip to Ames, Iowa, to take her great niece to college, something she spoke of often. Jean also enjoyed playing cards, bingo, and going to the casino when she could.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Lola Sievers and Audrey Klockgether; brothers, Phillip Goslar and Edward C. Goslar Jr.; and numerous other family members. Survivors include three sisters, Wilma Sievers of Denison, Irma (LaVern) Wessel of Ricketts and Shirley Gosch of Ute; one brother, Ronald (LouAnna) Goslar of Ute; beloved niece, Kim King and significant other, Doug Nepper of Ute; beloved nephew, Todd Klockgether and wife, Jill and their daughters, Katie and Brianna of Charter Oak; many other beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service is 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Charter Oak with visitation one hour prior to the funeral from 10:00-11:00 AM also at the church. Interment is in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family.

"Sending Our deepest condolences to all of Jean?s Family on behalf of my Grandmother, Ruth (Neddermeyer) Hansen and All Our Family. My Grandmother, Ruth always talked about Jean and would call her almost every week and talk for hours with her up until the day Jean was moved to a Nursing Home. My Grandmother was heartbroken when she got the news that Jean had passed away. She always mentioned how much Jean was always there for her and helped her so much with her kids. They had been very good friends since their school years and she will always treasure all her memories of Jean. She will truly miss her calls with Jean each week but she knows God has gained a beautiful Angel in Heaven and Jean is at peace with no more pain. RIP Jean, Thank you for being a great friend to my Grandmother through out all the years. You will be truly missed! "

"Through my younger years when the large Goslar Family celebrated so many birthdays and holidays, Jean would be there as well. I so recall in the 50s when Aunt Jean and her sisters would get together and give Lilt hair perms to whoever dared to let them do it . . and it was usually me first. The smell was the first clue that perhaps something kinky was surely happening. After they?d finally get the Lilt rinsed out of my my thick hair and then let it dry, they?d say how cute my permanently frizzy hair looked . . and I believed them. Thank you Aunt Jean for the memories. "
