In loving memory of

Rechell Williams, Sr.
October 24, 1935 - March 28, 2021

Rechell was born on October 24, 1935, to Annie B. Robinson George and Johnnie Williams in Lemoyen, Louisiana, a non-incorporated community in St. Landry Parish. He was the second child of four children. His early childhood was spent in Lemoyen Morganza, Louisiana and New Orleans, Louisiana. Most o his teenage years were spent in Port Arthur, Texas where he graduated from Lincoln High Schoo with the class of 1955. During Rechell's high school years he was known as "Corky" the popular basketball and track star. He developed many friendships during his high school years and they remained throughout his life. He enjoyed attending the yearly class reunions in Port Arthur, which also provided ab opportunity to visit with his classmates.

Shortly after he graduated from high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy on the USS Perkins. Near the end of his commitment to time served he considered re-enlisting but pursued a career in government service. Rechell became a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Following an honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy, he was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in San Diego where he resided the rest of his life. After 53 years he retired from the Postal Service with over twenty recognition awards and service pins. During his early years with the U.S. Postal Service he was on their basketball team, during his career he worked as a mail handler on the culling belts and cancellation machines. Once the move was made to the midway post office he became the dispatcher. His job was to get all contract trucks loaded, locked and sealed, recording all arrivals and departure times of each truck. Rechell was committed to his service for he U.S. Postal Service.

Rechell's interest in history, photography and sports lasted a lifetime. He loved fishing and spent time at Shelter Island and Salt and Sea with his shipmate and cousins Hank (Hank's Barbershop). He also loved tang on his C.B radio and listening to music. He was well known in the C.B. world as "CC Rider." He loved the Chevrolet Monte Carlo which he always purchased the latest models.

Many who sent time with Rechell listened to his star stories, his lessons and insights into the future that lasted for hours. He really loved life. He enjoyed tine with his brothers; sister-in-laws; nieces; great nieces and nephews in Texas. His visit included spending a number of his birthdays with them.

Rechell was preceded in death by his spouse Katherine Williams October, 2012. Rechell Williams, Sr. passed away peacefully on March 28, 2021.

Left to cherish his memory he is survived by his children Rechell Williams jr.; Marlo Williams Sr. (Michelle); Alexander V. Williams (Tina); Sjherrie Koschier and Arnell Williams. Grandchildren Rechell Williams III; Mario Williams Jr.; Ariel K. Williams; Alexis E. Williams; IIMar'I Thomas; Shiann Lewis; Tyler Hollis. Sister Shirley M. Gilford; Brothers Maurice George Jr. (Jonel); Wilbert George Sr. (Debra) and many family and friends he treasured.
