Roger L. Davis, age 86, of Quincy, died Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at 6:54 am in Blessing Hospital.
Roger was born August 20, 1934 in Barry, Illinois, the son of Loren and Pearl Neaterour Davis. He married Linda Ruder on May 27, 1961 in Quincy, Illinois. She survives.
He graduated from Quincy High School in 1952. Roger served in the United States Army National Guard and was activated for duty during the Berlin Crisis. Roger worked at Central Pattern as a pattern maker, and retired after 40 years of service. After his retirement, Roger stayed active and worked at Bergner's in Processing, and also at Knapheide delivering final products to their destinations.
Roger was a car enthusiast. He loved attending races, traveling for family sporting events and car shows. Roger and Linda would be at every event for their children and grandchildren.
He was a member of the Lambert Lodge #659 A.F. and A.M., Quincy Consistory, and the Shriner's. Roger was also a member of Luther Memorial Church.
In addition to his wife, Roger is survived by his three children, Sharan (Kent) Halfpap of Quincy, Diane Booher of Quincy, and Steven (Kimberly) Davis of Old Monroe, MO; 6 grandchildren, Nathan Halfpap, Travis and Jennifer Booher, Samantha (Jason) Zanger, Tanner Davis, and Cory Booher; two step-grandchildren, Schylar and Preston Salazar; a great granddaughter, Savannah Zanger, with one more great-granddaughter on the way; and his beloved dog, Lily.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, two half brothers, Paul and Dale Rombaugh, and brother-in-law, Frank Ruder.
Services: 2:00 pm Saturday, April 3, 2021 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with Chaplain Josh Vahle officiating.
Burial: Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois with military honors conducted by the United States National Guard and American Legion Post 37.
Visitation: 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Friday April 2, 2021 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home
