John Thomas Workman, Jr. or "Tommy" to his family and friends, of Rockport, Texas went to be with Jesus on Friday, March 26, 2021.

Tommy was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on July 25, 1950 to John Thomas and Dorothy Eleanor Workman. He had 4 older sisters and 1 younger brother.

He married Debbie Schroller on May 30, 1970 in Odem, Texas. They were married for 34 years and had 2 wonderful children - Glenda Gene Workman and Jeremiah John Workman, his wife Carol and two grandchildren, Savannah and Kelton Workman.

Tommy worked for MoPac Railroad for 17 years. He loved the great outdoors, hunting, fishing and passed that on to his family. He was always willing to help anyone who needed it.

Tommy was a natural born leader, teaching others what he had learned; always tinkering with something he felt needed to get done. Always up for a challenge, Tommy enjoyed figuring things out and seeing his ideas come to life.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Westover Baptist Church at 1310 Advance St. San Marcos, Texas; at a date to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial contribution to the Texas Parks & Wildlife Foundation (TPW Foundation) or FVFD (Fulton Volunteer Fire Department) 305 N 9th, Fulton, TX 78358.

" I will miss Tommy. He was a big part of my life, especially when I was a teenager. He married my sister and then had his young marriage turned upside down when he graciously welcomed my brother Randy and I into his family when our mom died. It wasn?t easy to have us with them, but I am so thankful that they did. He helped me buy my first car, put up with my boyfriend, he was there for my graduation and even gave me away at my wedding. He helped rescue me from a situation that was not safe, a time or two, and then watched me go right back. He never condemned me, just loved me. I will forever be grateful for all that he did for me and I will miss his quiet demeanor, quick wit, and that mischievous grin he had! "

"I pray your sorrow be brief and your memories be eternal. It saddens me to think of the generation of men, dads, husbands, patriots, that will soon be gone but am so grateful we have a piece of them to carry in our hearts. Hugs and prayers Glenda and family. Your friend, Diana H. "
