In loving memory of

Martell Charles Dean
June 13, 1983 - March 20, 2021

Martell Charles Dean was born on June 13, 1983 to the parents of Cherie Lacy Hall and Jimmie Dean. Martell was educated in the San Diego Unified School District. He loved San Diego.

Martell was introduced to Christ at a very young age as his great- grandmother Mattie G. Austin had always spoke about the love and promise of Christ Jesus.

Martell had several jobs through- out his years of life, but his passion was music and he had a gift he wanted the world to hear.

As a kid, Martell played football for Skyline Pop Warner youth football. Boy was he good! He also loved the sport of basketball. Martell joined Community Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Clyde F. Eugene. His God-given talent was cultivated from the body of Christ. He was a very enthusiastic kid and a fast learner. At the age of four he took his auntie Keisha's 10-speed bike and went down the street riding it, and was like look mom, look at me. His mom was amazed when he did that, and was like how did he learn to ride a 10-speed? She just knew his bike had training wheels. Martell always challenged himself to show you he could succeed at whatever he set his mind to do.

Martell was the oldest, and first grandchild. His other cousins looked up to him and he loved being with his cousins, Ronnie and Ronell Reed, and his uncle John John. He was so lovable and fun to be around. Martell was the center of joy of his grandparents Dorothy and John Lewis, Sr. There was nothing they wouldn't do for him. You couldn't tell his nana nothing about him. Martell's mother would have countless talks with her son. Cherie loved all her children equally. Many of her children birthday parties included all of his cousins, sisters, brothers, family, and friends. One of the kids was Sade, who at the time Cherie looked at as a niece to the family. Sade went from the niece (not by blood) to becoming his wife. No one will ever understand the relationship that they shared. Martell shared his vows he would give his eyeball and his legs and his right arm to Sade then share with their auntie that he was not going to leave because he doesn't want to leave without his eyeballs legs or arms. Yeah boy, that was Martell the true jokester and a jack of all trades on May 4, 2012 Martell and Sade joined in holy matrimony. To this union three children were born La'Kai, Jordan, and Zy'mier Dean.

Martell leaves to cherish his wonderful memories his loving wife Sade Dean; mother Cherie Lacy Hall; (step-father) Darryl Hall; father Jimmie Dean; and mother-in-law Yvonne McCue; father- in-law Larry Bates; grandparents Dorothy and John Lewis, Sr.; and Cherries Silver, all of San Diego. Martell's children Martell, Marsean, Mareyon, La'Kai, Jordan, Jaysiano, Zy'Meir, and Khiree all of San Diego; and one daughter Kaylen of Kern County, CA; sister Martesha Dean and brother Marcus Smith Dean of San Diego; sister Marquett Scott of Texas; and brothers Jimmie, Jr., Derek, Devon, sister Arianna, La'Tavian, Jaynay; two step-brother and four step-sisters of San Diego; uncles and aunts Antoine McNeely (Kimberly) of Los Angeles, CA, Leroy Davis, Jr. of Yuma, Arizona, John and Jasmine Lewis Phoenix, Arizona; auntie's Andrea Davis Saunders, Vonda (Vonnie) Steen and Kiesha Lewis all of San Diego, and Ladon Evans of Houston, TX, and a god-mother Tracie Hunt of San Diego, and nieces A'sharia and Ja'leah, Ja'Niah of Amanillo, TX, and Aniah of San Diego; nephews Jeremiah, Marcus, Jr., and Ke'yonte, and a the host of cousins, friends, and extended brothers.
