Jimmie Sanford
September 5, 1940 - March 4, 2021
On Thursday, March 4th, 2021, our loving father, grandfather, and uncle passed away peacefully at Brighton Place San Diego Assisted Living. Jimmie Lee Sandford was born on September 5th, 1940 in Tatums, Oklahoma to the late Curtis Sandford and late S.D. Sandford. He was one of three children, and all three siblings had the beautiful SMILE, that they loved to show off. Jimmie moved to Phoenix where he had a son Jimmie Lee Sandford Jr. he then met and married Bessie Cheatum in 1959 and to this union was born Lee Anthony Sandford. He also meet a host of friends and work for the city of Phoenix as a garbage man alongside his brother Troy. He relocated to San Diego, CA and found god and was Baptized May 24th 1970. Jimmie was one of the Great Shoe Shine people of San Diego, and maintain a successful business and operated out of the Chase Bank Building in Downtown San Diego. With this business Jimmie had a host of friends, Lawyers, Councilmen, State Officials) Jimmie also attendend San Diego Commuinty College Adult Skill Center. He completed course in Auto Body work in 1974 and Auto Upholstery in 1979. Jimmie was a runner and he could run for miles. Jimmie restored a relationship with his nephew Dennis in the mid 90's, while Dennis was in the Marine Corp. Jimmie then started to visit his Nephew and attended the wedding of Dennis and Pat. Jimmie enjoyed visiting his nephew and niece in Phoenix so he could hang out with old friends(Fulbright, Jerry Ward, Fuzz, Ish,Art...etc)from when he worked for the City of Phoenix Jimmie was preceded in death by his mother Curtis Sandford father S.D. Sandford,brother Troy Sandford Sr.,sister Yvonne Sandford(Sam Jones Jr).,nephew Donald McHenry,great niece Mataga Ford,nephew Troy Sandford Jr(Chipmunk), and great nephew Angel Emanuel Sandford. He leaves to cherish his precious memories his children Son Jimmie Lee Sandford Jr., Lee Anthony Sandford, Charlie Martin, Grandson Leshedrick Antony Sandford, Nephews and Nieces, Dennis(Pat)Sandford,Diane McHenry,Randy Sandford,Debra Ann(Adell) Bryant, Michael Sandford, Myron Sandford, and Alvin(Catrina)Sandford. Sister-in-Law: Lena White. A host of Great Nephews and Nieces.
