Sandra Abrams Obituary

Sandra Lee Abrams passed away at her home in Forest City, Iowa on March 11, 2021. She was born on September 15th, 1961, to Spence Jr. and Janice Abrams. A service for family and close friends of the family will be held at First Baptist Church in Forest City, Iowa on Thursday, March 18th at 11:00AM. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be directed to First Baptist Church.

Sandy loved doing anything creative and making things, especially something others could enjoy. Baking was something she did both for fun and to share with others. Baking bread was one thing she'd spent a lot of time doing in recent years and her home was often filled with the smell of a freshly baked loaf. Gardening was one of her favorite ways to spend time in the summer. She had a vegetable garden and beautiful perennial flowers she tended every year. She also enjoyed sewing and crafting. She planned projects and chose fabrics with her granddaughters and was planning to teach them to sew someday, too. She made every place she lived a cozy home for herself, her family, and her guests.

Sandy spent much of her time caring for others. Her neighbors were blessed with her baked goods and company. She had a smile and friendly word for the people she would meet while out around town. When her grandchildren were little, she spent hours with them, reading books, coloring, and playing games. She found joy in them and thought every little thing they said was so funny! As they got older, she always remembered their birthdays and found ways to make them special. She loved providing for her children, also--a place to stay, a place to do laundry, strawberries from her garden, or someone to talk with.

Sandy is survived by her mother, Janice Abrams; her son and daughter-in-law, Travis & April Holtan; her daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie & Lukas Wooge; her sons, Joshua Holtan and Michael Holtan (all of Forest City, Iowa); twelve grandchildren--Emma, Shad, Jadyn, Lilly, Grant, Calvin, Grady, Kashden, Willow, Wesden, Jagger, and Maeby; and her sisters and brothers--Floyd & Vicki Jefson, Tim Abrams, Kevin & Julie Pals, Pam & Dan Moore, and Steve & Val Abrams. Sandy was preceded in death by her daughter Emily, her father Spence Abrams Jr., and several grandparents, aunts and uncles, and cousins. We know she is at peace with her Savior.
