"I was lucky to work with Pat for many years. I remember when she and John bought their home and when Pat started driving. She was a wonderful person. "
Patricia Kelly Holm, age 93, of South Holland, Illinois, and formerly of Quincy, died Sunday, March 14, 2021, at 8:30 am in South Holland Manor Heath Care and Rehab Center.
Pat was born January 14, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Francis Patrick and Marion Ruth Hayes Kelly. She married John Huber Holm on June 21, 1952 in Chicago, Illinois. He preceded her in death on June 3, 2013.
She attended school in Chicago, Illinois. Pat had been employed with Winters Insurance Company for many years, where she worked as a secretary, as an adjuster, and as a sales agent. Pat is a member of St. Francis of Solanus Catholic Church.
Pat was an avid reader, and she and John would go to the library on a weekly basis to drop off seven or more books at a time. He would read one by the time she had read seven of them. Pat loved watching the Chicago Cubs. Patricia was always smiling no matter how she felt and cared for all, with her religious upbringing.
She also wrote poetry, and she was very good at it. She wrote a long poem for one of the nieces in five minutes, and that niece received an "A+" grade for Patricia's hard work.
In the early years in Quincy, Pat loved to bowl and enjoyed bowling night with John. She truly loved all the people in Quincy and loved turning on the radio at 3:00 am in the morning to listen to John and WTAD. This world was a better place with Patricia in it, and now heaven is.
