William Lahrman
August 28, 1933 - March 13, 2021

William Henry (Bill) Lahrman passed away on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at home after a 4 ½ year battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.

He was born on August 28, 1933 in Quincy, Illinois to Archie and Dorothea (Kerker) Lahrman. On May 10, 1979 he married June Bryant Sibbing at Trinity United Church of Christ. She survives.

Bill was a 1951 graduate of Quincy Senior High and was a member of the National Honor Society. He attended Quincy College and in 1955 he graduated from The University of Illinois with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Bill worked in the Engineering Department of Gardner-Denver in Quincy, Pratt Whitney Aircraft in West Palm Beach Florida, and Hartford, Connecticut, and for General Dynamics in Fort Worth, Texas. He spent the last 15 years of his career at Quincy Compressor, retiring in 1998. Bill served as director of Junior Achievement while at Gardner-Denver.

Bill and June enjoyed boating on the Mississippi and he was a former member of the Quincy Boat Club and Island Club. He was a Formula 1 race fan and loved listening to Dixieland music. He had his own Youtube page with many followers.

Bill was a long time member of Trinity United Church of Christ where he served as an Elder and on many committees.

Bill and June love traveling and had visited over 68 countries. Their most memorable trip was a Safari trip to South Africa in 2015. They enjoyed many cruises including a Russian River Cruise and several European River Cruises.

Bill is survived by his wife June and three step-children, Jeffrey (Kathy) Sibbing, Jonathan (Connie) Sibbing both of Quincy, IL, and Julie ( Maria Brinza) Sibbing of Falls Church, VA; 11 step- grandchildren, Ashley (Chad) Wilhoit, Courtney (Dustin) Reeves, Kayla, Ethan, Abbie, and Shawn Sibbing all of Quincy and Dylan Sibbing of Daytona Beach Shores, FL. Sean and Gabe Brinza of Falls Church, VA, Annie Brinza of Charlotte, NC, and Patrick Brinza of Blacksburg, VA; Step great-grandchildren Eliza and Zoey Reeves of Quincy, IL, Bryson Sibbing Roberts of Quincy, IL, and Skyler and Blaine Wilhoit of Quincy, IL; a cousin, Caryl Karmer of Quincy, IL also survives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mother-in-law, Grace Bryant Halfpap, Father-in-law Harry Bryant, brother-in-law, Harry R. Bryant, Sister-in-law, Jean Bryant Martin, and a cousin Marilyn Garber.

Memorial Service: 12:00 p.m. Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Trinity United Church of Christ with Rev. Timothy A. White officiating. If you are planning on attending the service or visitation, face masks are required.
