Geraldine "Geri" Marilyn Greening Hall Martinez passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 18, 2021 at the age of 90. She was surrounded by family and loved ones in her last days and at the time of her death. She is survived by her three children Bette, Brenda, and Ken, stepdaughter Barbara, nine grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and twenty-one great-great-grandchildren.
Geri was born in Shenandoah, Iowa in 1931 to Charles and Esther Greening. She moved to California with her husband John Hall when she was 16 years old. It was in California that her family really began to blossom and become what it is today. She was the rock of our family and we were very fortunate to have her and learn from her what it means to love and take care of each other. She was always willing and happy to help those in need, in fact it was something she was passionate about throughout her entire life. She volunteered at the San Bernardino Hospital in the 1960's and was a foster mother to countless children some of which stayed in close contact with her. She also served as a missionary for the church and traveled to Belize in 1988 where she served as an academic teacher for children. Geri's other great passion in life was church and serving God. She always felt that she had a calling and responsibility from God to feed those in need and make sure no one went hungry. She always had an abundance of food in her house to give to others and would take anyone grocery shopping that needed it. Other things that brought Geri joy were puppets, playing bingo, gardening, yellow roses, and feeding the birds, or as she called them "her little friends"
Services for Gerri will be held on March 22, 2021 in Riverside National Cemetery. Unfortunately, due to current restrictions the service will be limited to invite only.
