William Chester Hunter passed away on September 14, 2013. Bill was born at St. John’s Hospital in Oxnard, California, on August 9, 1947. He attended schools in Oxnard, graduating from Oxnard High School in 1965 and later graduated from Ventura College. He worked for Camarillo State Hospital as a Psychiatric Technician before going to work as a police officer at Port Hueneme Police Department where he rose to the rank of Detective Sergeant. His law enforcement career ended in 1976 when he had surgery for removal of benign brain tumor. Bill attended Ventura College of Law graduating in 1980. After passing the bar examination, he moved to Los Banos, California, working as Deputy District Attorney for 18 years. He also taught business law at Merced College and worked for the office of the Merced County Counsel as a Deputy County Counsel. Bill retired in 2007. Bill was married to Alyce Hunter and they had two children Kim of Lahain, Maui, Hawaii, and Michael of Rohnert Park, California. Bill was also the proud “Gramps” to Cade William Amorous, son of Kim and Kevin Amorous. Bill was predeceased by his parents Chester and Dorothy Hunter. A service will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 beginning at 4:00 p.m. at Whitehurst Funeral Chapel in Los Banos. Services under the direction of Whitehurst Funeral Chapel in Los Banos.
