Winston Wayne Weathers, Sr., a resident of Los Banos, California passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2013 in Los Banos, with his family at his side. He was 79.
Winston was born December 29, 1933 in Hinton, Oklahoma, the son of Orville and Frieda Weathers. He graduated from Hydro High School in Oklahoma and attended Oklahoma State University. His family came to California in 1952 and moved to Dos Palos in November of that year. He married Mamie Tallent on July 1, 1953. Winston farmed all his life and retired in 1988.
Winston was a director for Dos Palos Coop Gin for 15 years, volunteered for the Dos Palos Y Fire Department from 1970 - 1995. He was a member of Dos Palos Y Service Club from 1960 - 1990, member of Dos Palos Lion's Club from 1985 - 1992, and and director for Merced County 1st State Cotton Board for four years. Winston was an avid traveler visiting the United States, Canada, and Mexico. He loved to fish, hunt and golf. He loved the outdoors. He will be greatly missed and remembered by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frieda and Orville Weathers; and daughter, Deborah Kaye Parreira.
He is survived by his wife, Mamie Weathers; two children Winston Wayne Weathers, Jr. and his wife Shelly; Alonzo James Weathers and his wife Pam; son in law, Paul Parreira; siblings, Helen Thompson, Arlene and Zoral Eubanks and Bill Weathers; nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and many family and friends.
A Graveside Service will be held at the Dos Palos Cemetery District on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at 11:00 am. Services were entrusted to Whitehurst Funeral Chapels, Inc. of Dos Palos.
