WESLEY CARL REED, age 81, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 21, 2015 with his family by his side. He was born in Poteau, Oklahoma on March 10, 1934. He was one of 7 boys born to Bill and Dolly Reed. He graduated from Sanger High School in 1952, afterwards attending Coalinga College and Merced College. He married his high school Sweetheart in 1954.
He started his career with PG&E in San Francisco in 1956 where he was drafted into the United States Army during the Korean War and upon returning home, worked in Fresno, Coalinga and retired in 1987 as District Representative for PG&E in Los Banos after 31 years of service. He then joined his daughter in Real Estate at Candlelight Realty where he worked for 28 years. He was a volunteer at the Los Banos Police Department.
He loved spending time with his grandchildren and family, going on cruises and vacations. He has toured Europe, Panama Canal, Alaska, Mexico, Canada, British Columbia and Niagara Falls. Another favorite pastime was having daily coffee breaks at Burger King and deer hunting. He was known as "Coach Reed" to many. Being Coach to Girls softball and boys baseball always taking them to All-stars and the playoffs.
He is survived by his wife, Carol (Deaver) Reed of 61 years, 1 daughter, Caryn (Reed) Cox (Dale), daughter-in-law Carmen Reed, four grandchildren, Eric Reed, Tara Cox, David (Bubba) Cox, all of Los Banos, and Kelly Cox of Nashville, Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his son, Sergeant Carey Reed in 2014; his parents and four brothers.
The Reed family would like to express their gratitude to Hinds Hospice, Memorial Hospital-Los Banos, Los Banos Fire Department, Los Banos Police Department, Riggs Ambulance, neighbors, friends, family and everyone that helped during this difficult time.
Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2015 @ 10:30 AM at United Methodist Church, 1031 Iowa Ave. Los Banos, Ca 93635.
