The last of his family generation, Frank was a life-long resident of Los Banos, California. He graduated from Los Banos Union High School in 1946 and served in the U.S. Armed Forces during WWII from Oct. 5, 1946 through April 6, 1948. On Sept. 25, 1949, he married Helen JoAnne Lopes and they spent the next 66 years as husband, wife, father, mother and best friends. Frank worked on the family farm as a young man and after marrying Helen, some of his notable places of employment included Toscano’s Grocery, Bressler’s Auto Electric, Union Ice Co., Eagle Field Cotton Gin, Naam Packing Co., Lindeman Farms and most recently at the City of Los Banos Airport. Frank spent over 50 years enjoying and helping 4-H youth as a 4-H Leader and Advisor.
Frank belonged to the Knights of Columbus, Our Lady of Fatima Society, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Merced County 4-H Leader, Native Sons, and the Twilighters Bowling League
He is preceded in death by his mother Grace and father Francisco; brothers: Dominic, Joe, John, Louie, and Tony; sisters: Minnie Delerio and Rose Setaro; two nieces Kathy Kent and Grace Domoto; nephews Frank E. Gallichio and Edward Gallichio.
Frank is survived by his wife Helen Gallichio; sons: Michael, Patrick, Timothy, Jeffrey Gallichio; nephews: John Gallichio, Jr., George Gallichio, & Leonard Setaro; nieces: Dolores Areias, Loretta Daguerre, Fran Gallichio, Diana Pfitzer, & Marilyn Delerio. He had seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to any of the following: New Bethany Care Facility, O.L.F. Catholic School, or the Merced County 4-H Scholarship Fund.
There will be a visitation on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at Whitehurst Funeral Chapel, 5-7 p.m., the rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. On Monday, January 4, 2016 there will be a funeral mass at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Los Banos District Cemetery.
