Gilbert E. Silva
January 31, 1923 - June 7, 2016
Gilbert E. Silva, Sr., 93, passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2016. Mr. Silva was born in Snelling and moved to Dos Palos on Deep Well Road at an early age. He worked on the family dairy until going to serve in the military during World War II. After discharge, Gilbert returned home, met Belmira Ferreira and they were married May 31, 1952. They had three children.
He is preceded in death by his parents Frank E. and Olga Silva; brothers: Tony, Albert and Walter Silva; sisters: Pauline and Elsie Silva, Mary Souza and Lorraine Petry.
Gilbert is survived by his wife of 64 years, Belmira; Children: Gilbert Silva, Jr., Ron (Jenny) Silva, and Mary (Manuel) Vaz; sister, Cecelia DeSa; 7 Grandchildren; 2 Great Grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. The Rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m. and the Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m.; burial will follow at the Los Banos District Cemetery.
