Adelaide Barcellos, 102, passed away November 25, 2017. She was born in Los Banos to Joseph and Delphina Cardoza. She attended local schools and graduated from West Side Union High School in 1933. In 1935 she married August Barcellos. During the 60 years they were married they traveled to all 50 of the U.S. States and Europe. Besides traveling she loved to read, crochet, and visit with family and friends in their travel trailer.
Addie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Augie Barcellos; sisters, Mary Silva and Adelaide (Fritz) Bettencourt; brother, Manuel (Carburetor) Cardoza; grandson, Ross Freitas; and granddaughter Brenda Barcellos Leue.
Addie is survived by her children Betty (Jim) Swehla and Arnold (Terry) Barcellos; grandchildren Ron Freitas, Renee Thomason, Bonnie Carver, Aaron Barcellos, Aric Barcellos, Tama Clarke, and Bethany Lewis; great grandchildren Heather Abdullin, Alexis Aleander, Joshua Mathews, Mariah Mathews, Alec Barcellos, Ayden Barcellos, Ali Germino, Jake Barcellos, Corbin Clarke, Savannah Lewis, Presely Lewis, Claudia Leue, Cole Leue, and 7 great great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank New Bethany Residential Care & Skilled Nursing for the wonderful care they gave Addie during the 20 years she lived there.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations may be made to New Bethany, O.L.F School or charity of choice.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary on Friday, December 1, 2017 at 10 am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Los Banos followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:30 am. Burial at Los Banos Cemetery District. Services are entrusted to Whitehurst Funeral Chapel-Los Banos
