In loving memory of

Richard Shenefield
January 10, 1935 - February 19, 2021

Richard "Dick" Shenefield left this world to be with his other family members who have gone on before him. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Erma Shenefield and his older brother Gerald "Bud" Shenefield. Dick suffered heart failure and never regained consciousness. He passed away at Jennie Edmondson Hospital, Council Bluffs, Iowa on February 19, 2021.

Dick and his siblings were born and raised on a farm north of Malvern. He attended country school and graduated from Malvern High School. He loved vocal music and attended state competition. He enjoyed wood working classes and the family still proudly displays the cedar chest he created. After high school he enrolled in the United States Air Force serving from 1955 to 1959. He was stationed in Italy. After a short return to Iowa, he moved to Washington state where his sister Rogene was living. He worked in the fields with her and her husband harvesting hops, grapes, and bing cherries.

Dick met his wife Jeanne Poirier in Washington. They married in 1963 and continued to live in Yakima Valley for several years. They had one son Troy. They had moved back to Iowa in 1966 where Dick did farming in the area. One of Dick's closest friends who survives him is John Jennings and his family. Dick farmed with them for 47 years in the Malvern area.

He is survived by his son Troy and granddaughter Cory; sisters Lois Rogene Vanderpool and Sharon Ann Marshall; brothers Larry Dean Shenefield and Charles Phillip Shenefield.

He will be missed by his family and friends.
