Dorothy Mae Colvin life began on March 21, 1926 to the late Fred and Liddie Mae (Means) Davis in Columbus, Mississippi. Dorothy was one of seven children. She attended Lincoln High School in East St. Louis, Illinois. She departed this life on February 18, 2021. At the age of 18 Dorothy relocated to Chicago, Illinois where she met and married the love of her life Earl Colvin. She was employed by Johnson Publishing Company and retired after 42 years of service. Dorothy was plundered by the debilitating disease Alzheimer Disease and relocated to Omaha, Nebraska under the primary care of her sister Ann Cotton. After a 5-year battle with Alzheimer's disease her health deteriorated, but her spirit and zest for like was always present. Dorothy loved her family, enjoyed laughter and making others laugh. She was caring, compassionate, loving and so much more. AS a family the following traits will be remembered and dearly misses in Dorothy. She was creative, inspirational, amazing, fabulous, beautiful, loved life even as a child, she wanted nothing but fun. Dorothy's hugs were pure and strong enough to fix anything. Always trying to make others feel better even when she was hurting. Dorothy departed this life February 18, 2021. Her parents, Fred and Lidde Mae (Means) Davis, husband, Earl Colvin; sisters, Doris Horton and Freddie Mae (Davis) Gaston, a brother Donald Davis preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, John Richard (Sharon) Rupert, two grandchildren, Donald and Jennifer Rupert, three great-grandchildren, all of Los Angeles, California, three sisters: Annie (Orell) Cotton, Rev. Dr. Onnie Drain of Omaha, NE, Rev. Dr. Lonnie Goodwin, Harbor City, California; cousin Christine Baskin, Chicago, Illinois; a host of other relatives, many special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
