In loving memory of

Lashelle Daneen Mitchell
November 9, 1971 - February 10, 2021

Today we pause in humble submission to the will of our Father in heaven, who in his perfect timing, has called home to eternity one of his own LaShelle Daneen Mitchell affectionately known as Shana. Shana's journey began on November 9, 1971, in San Diego, CA to Booker and Liddell Mitchell. She was the youngest of six children.
Shana accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age at Pilgrim Progressive Baptist Church under the Leadership of the late Rev. Marvin Hines. She attended Sunday School, a member of the Sun Shine Band Missionary and the Hines Special as a child. She also worshipped under the spiritual leadership of the late Rev. Dr. Joseph Foxworth where she song in the Young Adult Choir, and continued to attend Pilgrim under the Leadership of Rev. Donnell Townsend even while her health was failing her.
She received her formal education in San Diego, CA at Emersion Elementary and Point Loma High School. While working Shana continued her education earning a Degree in Child Development and she was a Licensed Cosmetologist.
Shana was the mother of two children: Dorionne McCleary, and Abigail Mitchell.
Shana loved being around her family, her church family and friends. She was a loving person, full of joy, laughter and a jokester. Shana was the type of person that if you needed her you could count on her being there. Her favorite sayings were: Don't take my kindness for weakness; and I don't mind you telling my story, but tell it right. She was a loving daughter, mother, sister, auntie and friend. Shana loved singing, but her real hobby was cooking and she was extremely good at it. It was even better when it came time to eat!

On Monday, February 10, 2021 was a gloomy day for those who knew and loved Shana. That was the day she closed her eyes and took her last breath on earth, knowing it was the beginning of taking her first breath in heaven. Shana held on to the words of the 23rd Psalm. For even though she walked through the valley of shadow of death, she had no fear. She knew to be absent from the body was to be present with the Lord.
Although Shana physical body is gone, she is still with us and will live in our hearts and minds forever. We are all God's children; some of us are loaned out for a little longer than others. Only God knows when He is ready for us. So let us celebrate all the good times and the memories we shared during the time "Shana" was with us.
Preceded her in death are her father Booker Mitchell, Sister, Ruby Franklin, brothers: Robert Lane and Timothy Mitchell.
She leaves to cherish her wonderful memories: her mother Liddell Mitchell, son Dorionne McCleary and daughter Abigail Mitchell; brother James Mitchell all of San Diego, CA; sister Laura Blakeney (Leon) of Hemet, CA; God-sister Bridget McCullough and a special nephew Jeremiah Mitchell. Her very special friends: Shanda Bell-Smith, LaShauda Ellison, Beatrice Womack and Michelle "Shell" Williams. A host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will mourn her passing yet celebrate her life. Sleep on my dear daughter, mother, sister, cousin and friend. Take your rest, we will always love you but God love you best.
