"Andy, I am heart broken. We last spoke late last year, and being 2 hours away, planned on meeting soon. As your old bud from grad school at MSU, I have nothing but great memories of a real gentleman who knew how to have fun. Heck, Neva remembers to this day how you threw her into the pool as is. And that was the first time you met her. Rest in Peace friend."

"Andy, you lived life to the fullest, but you\'re gone way too soon. You were a great running companion, engineering researcher, friend and roommate. Life at the \"Beech House\" was unforgettable, as were all those late nights in the lab. \"Who\'s up for some hot-black\" was your regular evening call to put in a few more hours. You provided motivation for all of us. Rest in peace my old friend."

"Annette, I am so sorry to hear of Andy\'s passing. I did not learn of it until I happened to see it on a NUWC/New London email forum. Andy was always one of my favorite coworkers and a fun travel companion. It\'s an often used cliche to say \"I can\'t imagine what you\'re going through.\" Unfortunately, Annette, I CAN imagine it because my dear wife Carolyn passed away just two days before Andy. There\'s a big void in your heart that you\'re sure will never be filled. I understand completely. You have my sincerest sympathy. Dave Hurdis"

"Annette, so sorry for your loss! I knew Andy for almost 50 years. We were on same cross country team in high school, college memories at Michigan state, annual bike trips and way more! Over the years he always came back to sandusky to visit annually if he could. He was a prankster in his younger days with countless stories from college parties! He was a genuine person from the heart. As one of my friends said ? always the smartest person in the room?. I will miss him greatly! Mike Ball. "

"Andrew was on my 1st SHS Cross Country Team in 1976.
His specialty was, the ability to literally; take down the Finish Line. This proved to be a benefit to our Team as each one, wanted to beat Drew so they could witness his efforts!
Obviously, this tactic proved a slight hindrance to the remaining Runners. During & after earning his PHD& then accepting a Research position with the Navy in RI, Andrew ALWAYS kept in touch, asking about our current Runner\'s.
When he learned our program was no longer funded, he simply replied, \"I\'ll send you a check Coach , which he con\'t to do for yrs. He wanted to remain anonymous...so I told the Team we were helped by the \"Ghost Runner!\" Drew LOVED that!! He finally allowed acknowledgement & met many grateful Runner\'s & Parents when he returned 3 yrs. ago to Emcee the Dedication of the SHS Track in my honor. Such a caring, generous man, truly a Friend to all who knew him. My Wife & I are Blessed to have have shared many Special Times with Andrew & his DELIGHTFUL/ Devoted Wife Annette through the years!!
Thank you Both for the memories may & God Bless & protect your future yrs.Dear Friend ?&??s"

"I was extremely saddened to learn of Andy\'s passing. I was afforded the honor of seeing him this past holiday season as he came to donate his annual donation to Forever Paws Animal Shelter. Over the years he was a loyal supporter of the shelter and as in a lot of cases I got to know him personally. I extend our sincerest sympathy to his wife Annette and his family. He was indeed a true lover of animals and he will be missed by all especially his fur babies. Rest In Peace !"

"My deepest sympathy to Annette, the Roberts and the rest of Andy\'s family. I knew Andy for most, if not all, of his years at Michigan State University. We worked together on research projects and I was his PhD advisor. We kept in contact after he moved to Newport. He was a fantastic student, well-loved by all who met him, extraordinary engineer, and set excellence records wherever he went. He was generous and helped students at number of universities by mentoring them and sponsoring projects. Faculty at MSU will be forever grateful for his generous contributions to student success. He remains a great friend and I mourn his passing."

An aw shucks genius, he made everyone feel smarter, and was a great influence on my life and the lives of many others. A great roommate and a great friend. He will be missed but his memory will not fade.
