Dane C. Lawing Jr. 63, of Fairmount, died Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Marion General Hospital.
Dane was born on September 28, 1957 in Marion, Indiana, son of the late Dane C. Lawing Sr. and Ruth (Bollhoefer) Lawing. He graduated from Marion High School in 1976 and attended Ball State University. He married Beth Mitchener on November 27, 1981. Dane retired from E&B Paving in April 2016 where he was a paving superintendent. He enjoyed playing fast pitch softball, working on cars, Suduko puzzles, and spending time with his grandchildren and attending their events. He enjoyed driving anything, car, truck, motorcycle or golf cart. He enjoyed supervising the goings on of Fairmount from his golf cart.
Dane is survived by his wife Beth; sons, Kiley (Jodi) Waller, Matthews, and Jared (Candice) Lawing, Fairmount; grandchildren, A.J. Good, Skyler Waller, Paizley Ropp and Zenley Lawing; sisters, Rhonda Marley and Diana (Ervin) Turner, both of Marion; brother Timothy (Roxanna) Lawing Smithville, MO.
Dane was preceded in death by his father and grandparents Herman Bollhoefer, Dessie Sanders, Winston Lawing and Lona Gunter.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana where visitation will be on Sunday, February 14, 2021 from 2-6 PM. Funeral Service is Monday, February 15, 2021 at 10 AM with Pastor Jeff Luedtke officiating. Burial will be at Park Cemetery.

"Another moment was when I married my wife Cathy. Dane driving us around town in my convertible car with tons of shaving cream all over it. When we first took off my new wife was plastered in shaving cream. Dane had this small laugh that he muffled a little. Never forget!"
"One of favorite memory was riding Danes 350 motorcycle back from home to BallState. It was a whopping 20 degrees outside. Dane driving and we had no coats. Danes wind breaker the only protection from the weather. Needless to say , I did a lot of hugging that trip back. We froze!!!"
