Ms. Martha Jo Ward, 68, of Mocksville, died Wednesday, February 10, 2021, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
She was born May 2, 1952, in Iredell County, to the late Owen Franklin and Opal Louise Foster Ward. Ms. Ward had been employed at Davie County Hospital in Mocksville for many years and had retired from Old Vineyard Behavioral Health. She had attended church at Victory on the Front Line in Lexington.
Survivors include a daughter, Melissa Richardson; a son, Joshua Phipps (Stephanie); a sister, Linda Adams (Alford); two brothers, Gene Ward (Nancy) and Kelly Ward, all of Mocksville; and four grandchildren, Brandon Richardson, Luke Phipps, Lily Phipps and Sadie Phipps.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Sunday, February 14, at Smith Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery, with Pastor Mike Duffield officiating. At the request of the family, please be mindful of social distancing and wear face covering. To provide the community an opportunity to celebrate the life of Ms. Ward, there will be a live webcast of her service on the Lambert Funeral Home website as well as by visiting the following https://webcast.funeralvue.com/events/viewer/48076.
The family invites friends to come by Lambert Funeral Home, Saturday, February 13, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., to pay their respects. Due to COVID-19, there will not be a formal receiving line and face coverings are required.
In lieu of flowers, they request that memorials be considered for Winston-Salem Rescue Mission, P.O. Box 595, Winston-Salem, NC 27102.
