Hazel Yvonne Turnbow, age 82, went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ, Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Blessing Hospital.
Hazel was born April 24, 1938 in Paducah, KY, the youngest of five children born to Roland and Inez Miller.
She attended Heath High School in Paducah. After high school she met William Johnny Turnbow who was in the United States Air Force. They were married in August 1952. They had been married 55 years when he preceded her in death on February 4, 2007.
Hazel was a very strong Christian woman. She spent time attending her son Charles' church, The Way of Hope, in Quincy. She was a member of the church choir, bible study groups, and loved working with children during Sunday School. She became an ordained minister in 2013. Hazel enjoyed her family time most of all. She loved to play card games such as rummy and canasta. Family get-togethers and BBQs at her daughter's home were special to her. She enjoyed time reading and working on embroidery and sewing. She loved making things for her family any chance she could.
Survivors include her four children: Charles (Roberta) Turnbow of Hartville, MO; Joseph Dean (Annette) Turnbow of Atkins, TX; Patty Kirk and Joanna (Gary) Bunch all of Quincy, IL; brother William Miller of McHenry, IL; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Ralph and Robert Miller, sister Betty Skinner and two children William Kenneth and Penelope Jean Turnbow.
Services: A family memorial service will be held at a later date.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Quincy Humane Society.
