Helen M. Colvin

Helen M. Colvin age 79 of Washington passed away on Friday, January 15, 2021 at Eastgate Manor.


 


Helen was born on February 8, 1941 to Virgil J. and Mary “Alberta” (Norris) Burris. She was a loving wife and a loyal caregiver to her husband Gerald. She loved taking walks in nature, mowing the lawn and she enjoyed babysitting. She was a former member of St. Patrick Catholic Church of Corning and a member of St. Peter Catholic Church. She was extremely strong in her Catholic faith.


 


She is survived by two daughters Brenda (Terry) Welch of Petersburg and Kim Fox of Washington; three brothers Ron “Govie” Burris of Loogootee, Rick Burris of Indianapolis and Gary (Wanda) Burris of Loogootee; sister Carol (Ron) Boyd of Loogootee; three grandchildren Matthew Welch of Petersburg, Nathan Welch of Okinawa, Japan and Logan (fiancé Kristie)Fox of Mooresville; three step-grandchildren Jacob Fox and Gretchen Raetz both of Loogootee and Heather Fox of Washington; eight step-great-grandchildren; two sister-in-laws Helen Burris and Leona Mathias both of Loogootee and brother-in-law Mac McDonald of Columbus.


 


Helen is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Gerald Colvin who she married on October 14, 1967; mother and father-in-law Louis and Beulah (Craney) Colvin; two brothers  Joseph Bernard Burris and Mike Burris; two sisters Betty McDonald and Mary Malinda Burris; son-in-law Tim Fox; four brother-in-laws Edward (Wanda) Colvin, Richard Colvin, Billy Colvin and Donald Mathias.


 


Visitation will be Monday, January 18, 2021 at St. Peter Catholic Church from 11:00am to 1:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00pm with Father Sudhakar Bhastati as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Peter Catholic Cemetery.


Due to Covid a mask and social distancing is required.
