Valeria Myrth (Dobbyn) Yeager

Valeria Myrth (Dobbyn) Yeager passed away January 16, 2021 at Solarbron Terrace in Evansville, Indiana.


 


Valeria was born on September 19, 1924 in rural Daviess County, Indiana, near the town of Cumback.  She was the sixth child born to Frank and Ulla (Goodwin) Dobbyn. As a child, she attended school at the Whittier School in Daviess County and worked on the family farm. When she was 15, her family moved to Washington, Indiana and she attended high school there.


 


While in high school, she met her future husband, George Yeager, Sr., when he took a job working for her brother. They married on April 11, 1942. George shipped off with the Army later that year and Valeria took a job supporting the war effort at the Crane Ammunition Depot. Upon George’s return in 1945, she took on the role of homemaker, raising their eight children.


 


Valeria was an avid quilter, enjoyed gardening and cooking and loved to travel and attend weekend dances with friends. She was a member of the VFW Post #1114 Ladies Auxiliary, the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed volunteering with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program in Daviess County. Valeria also previously served as a Democratic Precinct Committee person for the 15th precinct of Washington.


 


She is preceded in death by her husband, George Yeager, Sr., daughter, Brenda Clark, and granddaughter, Stacey Noland. She is also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers (Everett Dobbyn, Dick Dobbyn and Art Dobbyn) and three sisters (Helen Keller, Lennis Fields and Inez Smith).


 


Valeria is survived by her children, George Yeager, Jr., of Cadiz, KY, Dr. James (Jean) Yeager of Lake Forest, IL, Dianna (Philip) Alvey, of Cadiz, KY, Janice (Daniel) Alvey of, Haubstadt, IN, Carolyn (Donald) Stock of Evansville, IN, Alan (Carol) Yeager of, Evansville, IN and Gloria Butz, of Mt. Vernon, IN. She is also survived by her 12 grandchildren, 17 great=grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.


 


Visitation will be Friday, January 22, 2021 at Ed Lee Mortuary North Chapel, 620 E. Viola St, Washington, Indiana from 11:00 to 1:30 EST. Funeral service will begin at 1:30 EST with Yvonne Evans officiating. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery.

"I am so sorry. Val was one of my favorites.When we were playing a game, she would ask me, what's the object of this game and when I would explain it to her. She would say ," for heavens sake" every time . Prayers for the family."
