In loving memory of

Isaac Jammal Grant
September 28, 1978 - January 27, 2021

Isaac Jammal Grant, Sr. was the first child born to the union of Roosevelt, Jr. and Gwendolyn Grant on September 28, 1978 in Miami, FL. Isaac relocated with his parents to San Diego, California and received his formal education in the San Diego Unified School District. An avid sportsman, he excelled in football.

At an early age Isaac accepted Christ as his personal savior at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church and was baptized by Pastor Glenn L. Jones.

Isaac was a devoted family man and a proud father of two sons, Isaac, Jr. and Isaiah. He had a genuine love for all of his family and extended relatives. Known for being outgoing and spontaneous, he especially enjoyed outings with his family. Born into a family of culinary experts, he always loved a delicious home cooked meal.

Isaac learned the plumbing profession firsthand from his grandfather, the late A.C. Wheatfall ("Papa"), who operated an independent plumbing company for more than thirty years in San Diego. He learned the values of hard work, dedication, and pride in one's work from his beloved Papa. His second love after working with Papa was serving at the Balboa Naval Base in the Day Care Center. Isaac cared deeply for all children and valued the time he shared with the youth in his care. He would later join the Alpha Project, and work on projects that improved the communities around the community.

One of Isaac's cherished memories were the numerous domino games played with his Papa and others in the community. The time spent sharing laughter, life lessons and love, became a staple in Isaac's life. He had the special honor of sharing the same birthday as his Papa, and the two would celebrate with joint birthday parties that became legendary.

The Lord called Isaac home from his earthly labors on January 27, 2021. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Roosevelt, Sr. and Maxine Grant, A.C. and Eva Mae Wheatfall; father Roosevelt Grant, Jr.; uncles Roy Grant, Arthur Charles Wheatfall; and aunt Maxine Grant Janey.

Isaac is survived by his mother Gwendolyn Grant; aunts Lena Marie Wheatfall, Elaine Carter; uncle Eugene Grant; sons Isaac Grant, Jr. (Shanika Bugg), Isaiah Grant (Renedda Washington-Hill); sisters Derricca Grant, Jewelyn Wright; niece Naliyah Wright; nephews Malachi Battle and Demarion Wright; loving companion of fourteen years, Laura Mootry and her children Ceddrick, Ceontay, Ciarra, and Ceyonna; and a host of other relatives and friends to celebrate his homegoing.
