Giovanni grew-up in Calabria, Italy. As a teen, he relocated to the northern Italian region of Piemonte and began a career in the elevator industry. He worked throughout northern Italy installing and servicing elevators in private villas. After meeting and marrying Rosaria, the couple moved to Rochester, New York where he began his life-long career at Otis Elevator Company. In the early 70s, the family relocated to Rome, Italy for 10 years, where he continued with Otis. In 1980, the family returned to Rochester, and Giovanni continued with Otis. Upon retirement, the couple became snowbirds--enjoying sunny Florida in the winter months. They shared the company of friends in their congregation in both Rochester and Florida, as well as regularly visiting friends and family throughout Italy.
