Aldo went to heaven July 29, 2016 and is now with his beloved Annie. Born in 1923 in Woonsocket, Rhode Island to Josephina and Palmiro, and raised in Bridgeport, CT. Left to mourn his passing are his four children, Richard (Ginny Casper) Fioravanti, Joanne (Tom) Makielski, Patricia (Steve) Barresi and Mary (Rick) Spiegel; daughter-in-law Irene Fioravanti; his 7 grandchildren, Anthony, Michael, Meghan, Joseph, Stephen, Justin & Rebecca; 3 step-grandchildren, Ted who predeceased him, Jaime & Ashley; 3 great-grandchildren, Lily, Henry & Michael as well as many nieces and nephews.
Aldo's personality was shaped by the Great Depression, he was made a man during WWII, graduated from MIT as a civil engineer, then married the love of his life Annie, and together raised four beautiful children.
Aldo spent the first part of his career in the NYC area, helping to build, among others, Idlewild Airport (JFK) and Lincoln Center's Symphony Hall. In 1965, he moved his family to Rochester and served as the Assistant Director for the physical plant at the U of R, Strong Memorial Hospital. During his tenure, the footprint doubled in size. But perhaps his greatest accomplishment was the close-knit family that he and his wife created. His children and grandchildren feel fortunate to have had his positive influence, intelligence, uplifting spirit, attitude and optimism all these years.
Aldo really knew how to enjoy retirement, yet remain relevant in today's society...at 93 years old, he was on Facebook! He traveled the world with Annie by his side, remained active in the Rotary Clubs of Rochester, Fort Myers, and Canandaigua. He taught classes for AARP, and drove the tram at Sonnenberg Gardens. Perhaps his most enjoyable hobby was lending his baritone voice to many local choruses for years. Aldo is harmonizing in heaven for sure!
Dad always told us, "When it comes time for me to go, remember, I've had a great life". We will remember that, Dad! We hope we can live up to your wonderful example for a life well-lived.
Special thanks to the caregivers at the VA, Jewish Home, Crimson Ridge & Lifetime Care Hospice for the loving care they all gave to Aldo.
Aldo's visitation will be Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9 at the Funeral Home, 1411 Vintage Lane (Between 390 & Long Pond Rd.). Aldo's Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, 10 AM at St. Lawrence Church, 1000 N. Greece Rd. Burial will be privately held at St. Michael's Cemetery in Stratford, CT. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to ALS Association, Gift Processing Center, PO Box 6051, Albert Lea, MN 56007 in Aldo's memory.

Roger Loomis wrote on Aug 2, 2016:
"I met Aldo a couple of years ago at Sonnenberg where we drove trams together on occasion. He loved telling visitors about the estate. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a reputation for, at times, going where no tram had gone before! When things were slow, we'd discusss the news of the day. He was always well-informed and never lacked an opinion. He was just fun to be with.
He talked easily about his faith; his love for the Lord was obvious.
To his family and friends, my deepest sympathy, for you have lost a great man. But at the same time I cannot help but think that we have all gained a vibrant point of light!
Peace to all, Roger Loomis"

"Mary, Rick and family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Aldo was such a wonderful man, it was my honor to know him for almost 50 years. As a young girl, I remember thinking what a great dad he was, through my mom, I realized what a great career he had at the U of R and within the last few years, we enjoyed talking about our mutual roles in Rotary.
I am so heartsick that I am out of town, but I know your wonderful family will rally around each other as you grieve. Mary I love you like sister. I will be there in spirit. Xoxoxoxo."

"Remembering my uncle's generosity, I couldn't thank him enough when he helped me and my husband by hosting us for two days on our honeymoon in Florida. What a great guy! Whenever I met with my uncle, he was so energetic, happy to be of service and hospitable, and quick to give me loving advice like a second father which I needed. I, as well as my brother and sisters will miss him and Aunt Anne's love and guidance, but I relish the thought of both of them together in the happiness they deserve in Heaven. Much love to you Uncle Al!"
