Reginald Joe Overton was born to a happy union on March 15, 1980 to Gregory Joe and Dorothy Overton Smith. Reginald was affectionately known as "Champ", where he grew up in Omaha, Nebraska, attending the Public Schools and graduating from Flanagan High. Reginald was a resident of Houston, Texas for several years, living there with his dad, grandparents, uncles, and favorite Aunt Connie. Champ was always known to have a mild manner about himself, the social butterfly of the class.
Champ was so very talented with his hands and mind. He would talk about the solar system, planets, and build air and sea crafts. He was very crafty with building and fixing things, even remodeling his aunt Bobbie's home, doing things around his own home, and helping Grandma Susie with things in her home. He loved to watch and talk about cars and trucks; well, if it had wheels, he could talk to you about it.
And let's not talk about yard work! He could make his own yard be the envy of the neighborhood. Reginald like to help people. He grew up in Power House Church, and officially became a member later in life. He served on the Hospitality Board, Security Department, The Men's and Youth Department, and assisting the mothers, working along side his Pastor, Bishop B. Murray.
Everybody loved Reggie.
Reginald recently became engaged toa beautiful young lady, Sis La Rita Williams. They were the apple of each other's eye. Reginald was preceded by his sister Shirley D. Davis; Uncle Ronald Overton; Grandfather George Overton; Grandmother Ruby Overton; Father Gregory Overton, all of Houston, Texas. He leaves to cherish his memories, Mother Dorothy Overton-Smith, Fiancée La Rita Williams, Grandmother Susie A. Harris, and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home.

"Hi, I heard the news all the way in Jacksonville, Florida, and man, I\'m so very sorry. Even though I was not a member of Power House whenever I was there (to do video taping or whatever) Reggie always would assist me with the takedown of my mom\'s camera equipment and carrying out to my truck. Reggie was such a polite and charming man who had a charming smile and I can\'t imagine the tremendous loss his family must feel. I send my love and prayers. ??"
