In loving memory of

Shirley Ann Junior
January 26, 1936 - January 14, 2021

On January 26, 1936 in Monticello, Arkansas, a baby girl was born to the union of Central and Margaret Taylor-Daniels. The baby was named Shirley Ann, and would be their only child.
Along with her cousins Vernon and Juanita, Shirley was raised by her maternal grandmother, Rebecca Taylor, who they lovingly called "Becca Mama."
Shirley Ann attended Drew County School in Monticello from the first through the fourth grades. After re-uniting with her mother Margaret Williamson in 1946, the family moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where Shirley Ann accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior at age 11. Her family attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church, pastored by the late Dr. T.T. Lovelace. While still a child, Shirley Ann was a member of the Children's Choir and Sunshine Band. She attended Baptist Training Union ("BTU"), was a Sunday School secretary, sang in the gospel chorus as well as the all-city Gospel Gems Mass Choir. Both choirs were under the direction of her mother, Margaret Williamson.
Shirley Ann attended Lloyd Street Elementary School, Roosevelt Junior High School and Lincoln High School, from which she graduated in June 1954. She briefly attended college after high school.
Shirley Ann, her husband Clarence Lee Junior and their (then) 5 children moved to San Diego, California in September 1967. She united with the Bayview Baptist Church, pastored by the late Rev. L.L. Henderson, where she served faithfully in the choir, Mission, BTU and Sunday School. Shirley Ann also served faithfully at the Greater Life Baptist Church, pastored by the late Rev. W.E. Manley, and where she was a founding member. With Pastor Manley's blessing, Shirley Ann left Greater Life in October 1992 to assist Pastor Edward B. Johnson--who grew up with her children--in the nurturing of a new church in Mira Mesa, California. Shirley Ann returned to Greater Life in January 2004.
Shirley Ann continued her pursuit of higher learning in the early 1970's, receiving an A.A. degree in Child Development/Early Childhood Education from San Diego City College in June 1972. She received a B.A. Degree in Vocational Education from San Diego State University ("SDSU") in May 1979 and a certification as a Human Resource Developer from SDSU Extended Studies in October 1985.
Shirley Ann was a foster parent, an advocate for children and families, a child care center director and a teacher of courses in child development and early childhood education in the Long Beach Community College District and in San Diego at Mesa College, San Diego City College and the Educational Cultural Complex. She will be remembered for the energy, passion and love she brought to the education and childcare communities.
Shirley Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Lee Junior, her daughter Sheryl Lee Ann Collins, her son John Kevin Junior, and her parents--Margaret and Rev. Lamark Williamson.
Shirley leaves to cherish fond memories four children--Jirus David Junior, Joel Lamont Bond, James Edward Bond, Jr. and Margaret Venessa Jackson. Shirley Ann's well-lived life will be well-remembered by her son-and daughters-in-law Herman Collins, Lorrie Junior and Dana Bond, as well as by her grandchildren, Shenessa Jackson-Franklin, Nickolos Jackson, Kimberly Bond, Kenneth Junior, Pete Cornejo, Cecilia Gonzales, Dannai Toney-Bond, Jazman Bond, Joel Bond II, Jade Bond, Kanisha Collins-Jones, Saadia Collins, Symone Collins, Sheree Collins, Michael McMillen and Justin McMillen. Additionally, Shirley Ann's fruitful life will also be lovingly remembered by her great-grandchildren Aundrea, Joshua, Aria, Nikayla, Davien, Jrew, Nova and Noelle, along with her cousins and cherished sister-friends, Juanita, Raymond, Rufus, Theresa, Rose ("Aunt Rosie") Davis and Brenda ("Ma Bren") Chambers.
