"We are thinking of the time we spent kayaking with Doug, and Steph, and the river. Doug really enjoyed it (as did we all)."
Jessie "Doug" Shelley, 69, of Farmington Hills, MI, died on 1/11/21, at his home away from home on the Withlacoochee River, his favorite river to kayak.
His wit, his perfect timing to make you laugh, and his kind, generous, and loving spirit will live on in our memories. He was the best "back scratchies" scratcher, ever.
He died too young from Posterior Cortical Atrophy and Alzheimer's Disease. He donated his brain tissue to aid in the research of brain diseases.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Stephanie; his mother, Dorothy; his "crazy" sister, Lisa (Laird) Morgan; and his wonderful niece, Amanda (Brian) Dilworth.
He was preceded in death by his father, Owen Shelley; sister, Drucilla Lanning; and son, Max.
There will be no service or memorial. Instead, please give a little extra to your favorite charity.

"So true. Doug was always a bright spot at Rennpage family reunions. I remember him as a kind and gentle soul. He will be missed by all of us. Sending love to you, Stephanie. May memories of Doug's humor and generosity bring you peace. "
"Doug and wife Steff were a match made in Heaven. Doug could make anyone laugh. My children loved him even thru cherry pit spits. He is missed beyond words."
