"David Hearn was my boss for 32 years, but more important, he was my friend for 32+ years. There are so so many memories and not enough room to post them all, but David and Juanelle were family to me and I am very glad they are together in heaven. I ask peace and love to all the family, especially Susan and Ron and Scott and Toni, and all the brothers and sisters. Dwell on the good times together."

"My brother, David, or as baby sister, Linda, called him, \"Day-Doo\", was four years older than I. I have one memory of him I wish to share. Although I have been informed that my memory of the event is slightly skewed, it is very vivid to me. We were living at 606 First Street in Freeport. I was probably five or six; sister, Charlene, was two years older. Directly behind our house, separated by a high levee, ran the Brazos River. Our neighbor, Capn\' Allen, had built a long wharf with one 20\' extension into deeper water. Charlene and I took turns being blindfolded while the other lead her around by an 8? rope tied around her waist. It was my turn to lead, which I did, onto the wharf. When I reached the extension, I turned to the right. Feeling the tug, Charlene also turned, too soon. Down she slid on the barnacle-ridden corner post, into the river. David happened to be fishing nearby, heard our screams, dropped his pole, ran and jumped in and saved her! Perhaps that?s one of the many reasons she loved him so, and why I did, and why we still do. Barbara"

"Scott and Susan, David loved me as I loved him. We didn't talk often in our old age, but when we did, it was quality time. I will never forget the help he gave me when we moved to the lake, bringing his crew all the way from Austin to put in our A.C., and loaning us the Freeport cabin, and helping me re-build Aunt Linda's house. And I will never forget the time when we were kids, living near Almeda, and he made fun of my homemade muffins in front of his teenage friends. Ha.. Like his older brothers though, he always took up for me and gave me advice. BTW, I carried his picture in my billfold until I retired, because he was so handsome in uniform. I loved him, and I love you. Aunt Charlene"
