Thomas Case
January 30, 1928 - March 14, 2010

Thomas James Case was born January 30, 1928, the son of Victor and Margaret Cecelia Green Case. He passed away Sunday, March 14, 2010, at the Dunlap Nursing & Rehab Center in Dunlap, Iowa, at the age of eighty-two.
Tom was born in Wiota, Iowa. He received his education in the Portsmouth Community High School graduating with the class of 1946. After high school, he continued his education at Iowa State University as he studied engineering and went to night school to study electricity. He loved working the land and took great pride in farming, working on machinery and fixing equipment and other electrical devices. In his spare time, he could also be found in the flower and vegetable gardens. Spring was a favorite time of year for him, renewing and giving him new sights for spring.
On May 4, 1950, Tom was united in marriage to Marie Henscheid. The couple made their home in west central Iowa and were blessed with the birth of two daughters. They then settled in the Charter Oak region to farm and raise their family. Toms leisure time was spent socializing with family and friends. He especially enjoyed family reunions at graduations, weddings and other special events.
Tom was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Charter Oak where he served on the Parish Council. He was also a 50-year member of the Knights of Columbus. He served as president of the Farm Bureau from 1985-1986 and was a Willow Township Trustee for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one great-grandson, Jared Simon and one brother, Richard Case and his wife, Margaret. Survivors include his wife, Marie of Dunlap, formerly of Charter Oak; two daughters: Sandy Case of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Sharon Gorden and her husband, Byron of Dow City; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two brothers: Eugene Case and his wife, Mona of Manning; Frank Case and his wife, Mary of Carroll; other relatives and friends.
