Dale Jensen

Dale Eugene Jensen was born August 12, 1935, the son of Walter B. and Laverna Hansen Jensen. He passed away Monday, October 25, 2010, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, at the age of seventy-five.
Dale was born on the family farm near Schleswig, Iowa, and received his education at a rural school near his home. He was baptized in Christ on September 15, 1935, and confirmed on April 2, 1950, at the United Church of Christ in Schleswig. At the age of 13, after his father died, he took on many of the farming responsibilities and continued farming until he retired in 1986. He also served in the Iowa National Guard from 1954 to 1960 and then continued with the Army Reserves until 1963.
On August 2, 1963, he was united in marriage to Patricia Miller at the United Church of Christ in Schleswig by Rev. Walter Baumgartner. The couple and their daughter, Lisa, made their home on the family farm.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved spending time with his grandkids and getting together with family and friends. He often socialized over coffee with "the boys." Favorite activities included fishing, golfing, bowling and traveling. One especially memorable trip was going on a cruise to Alaska. He enjoyed watching TV, including game shows, a variety of older films, mystery movies and reruns. After moving to town in 1986, he drove school bus and was grounds keeper at the golf course. He was a member of the United Church of Christ in Schleswig, the Schleswig Community Club and the Schleswig Country Club.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Pat of Schleswig; one daughter, Lisa Anderson and her husband, Gary of Tekamah, Nebraska; three grandchildren: Brandon Anderson of Omaha, Nebraska; Megan Anderson of St. Louis, Missouri; and Mary Kaitlyn Anderson of Tekamah, Nebraska; one brother, Dennis Jensen and his wife, Karen of Littleton, Colorado; nieces and nephew, Lori (Doug), Becky (Bob), Jenny (Mark) and Jason (Holly); other relatives and friends.
