"Lit a candle in memory of Carol A. Igou"
Carol Anne (Pagel) Igou was born on October 30, 1944, the daughter of Art and Helen (Godberson) Pagel. She died Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of seventy.
Carol was born in Carroll, Iowa, and received her education in Denison, graduating in 1962. She continued her studies at Northwest Missouri State University. Throughout her life, she was employed as a bank teller and bookkeeper for the Crawford County Trust and Savings Bank, also working in the offices of Dreyer Chiropractic and Crawford County Abstract before "retiring" and taking over bookkeeping duties for the family trucking business. Carol was united in marriage to Wayne Igou on July 22, 1967. They welcomed one son, Jarrod.
Carol loved to be in and around Denison. She loved reading and collecting antiques. She was an active volunteer, helping with the monthly blood drive at the Denison hospital as well as lending her time to the T.A.P program and the Denison Care Center. Carol was active with a Bible study group in Kiron, where she joined the group in sewing hundreds of pillowcase dresses which were sent to children in Haiti. Above all, Carol loved spending time with her grandchildren, teaching her granddaughter to sew and spoiling her grandson with the noisiest toys she could find. Finally, she loved spoiling her beloved dog, Bruiser.
She is preceded in death by her mother (1987), her father (1999), and one brother, John Pagel (1982). Survivors include: her husband, Wayne; one son, Jarrod Igou and wife, Jennifer of West Des Moines; one granddaughter, Lauren (age 8) and one grandson, Sam (age 6); brother, Steve Pagel of Denison; and many extended family members, other relatives and friends.
